Ezekiel 22:30
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
(KJV)
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall
humble
themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked
ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
(KJV)
What is the Church called to be?
Isaiah 56:7
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of
prayer (8605 tephillah (tef-il-law'); from 6419; intercession, supplication; by implication, a hymn:
KJV-- prayer.): their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for
Mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. (KJV)
Mark 11:17
17 And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
(KJV)
Jesus is our Example.
Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession
(5241 huperentugchano (hoop-er-en-toong-khan'-o); from 5228 and 1793; to intercede in behalf of:
KJV-- make intercession for) for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
(KJV)
Romans 8:34
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
(KJV)
Hebrews 7:25
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
(KJV)

Not much has changed since the prophets
of old walked our land and Jesus Himself walked upon this earth.
Jesus was a man of prayer. All through the Word you find Him pulling
away to pray. Prayer was a major part of who Jesus was and He felt
quite strongly concerning His Church having departed from what it was
called to be - A House of Prayer.
We as the Church need to rise back up to
that place God has called us to stand. That place of prayer for our
cities, our nation, the lost, the hurt, the dying, those in bondage.
Why is it we don't see God moving in our churches like He did in the early
church or as when He walked the earth? Jesus said we would do even
greater things than He did because He goes to the Father. Could the
missing key be in the time we spend in prayer? Not the prayer that
says I want, but the prayer that says God give me your heart so that I can
pray for those things that are important to you. Give me your heart
of love and compassion so I can pray for the lost. Let me see my
city as you do. Let me see the hurting as you do. Give me your
eyes to see, your ears to hear.
It is time for the Church to stand up and
take it's place on the wall of our churches and cities and nation and the
world. We often quote if my people who are called by my name would
humble themselves and pray, then I will heal their land, but forget the
important keys to it - Humility, Prayer, Seeking God's face, Turn from
your wicked ways (That is to the church folks. It says if My
People). The Bible also says that judgment first comes to the house
of God, so Church, it starts with us. We need to get back in right
relationship so that we can be effective in our prayers. Jesus is
our example. Look at His pattern in prayer in His life on
earth.
It's time to rise up Church and Awaken
from your sleep. Look beyond the doors of your homes and churches to
the lost community and needs around you. The best way to develop the
love for your area and neighbors is to pray for them. As you pray in
earnestness the heart of God for the situations will begin to
develop.
This page has many prayer ideas and helps
for you to start taking your place upon the wall. Be that man/woman
that God can find and use. Don't let it be said in this day, I
looked for one who would stand and found none. Rise to your calling.
