Going Up To The High Places IX

"Breakthrough!"

Wednesday, May 15,2002 through Saturday, May 18, 2002

Dear Friends of High Places!

Here we all are, still waiting for the inevitable to happen!  What am I talking about?  I am talking about…

Breakthrough!

It is not a matter of if…it is a matter of when!

The question is this – Will we be a prepared for it and a part of it?

But what is Breakthrough and how is it to happen?

What are we waiting for?

The question of what we are waiting for poses some interesting, but difficult dynamics.  Then there’s the question of, what type of “Breakthrough” are you looking for, and how do you expect to see it happen?

Maybe the breakthrough is not about us getting through something, but about Jesus getting through to us.

It has to be more than just another buzzword in this revival.  We have heard it so much, that maybe even now you yawn with the idea. But don’t let that set you back.  This is a key word!  Do I know what it means?  Not really, except by definition.

But one thing I do know is that I am ready for it because it puts me on the other side of where I’m at right now. This has got to transition beyond rhetoric.

Many have come along urging us to speed up, to follow their ideal path, to hasten the process…but it doesn’t feel right.  So we wait.  As the move of God has been maturing, so have we who have been seeking Him, to know Him as He really is.  Our spirits are anxious.  Our hearts are longing.  What we have been waiting for is Jesus.  Nothing else will do.  We will not settle for anything but Him. We know that there is nothing that matters if we don’t have Jesus.

We have known the shallow waters of the past.

We have no desire to wade around the shorelines any longer.  We have played in the water in the beginning, but now we know that this water is now holding only serious swimmers.  The current has become swifter and more demanding of us.  It is strong and deep.  It is only for those who really have decided to go for the pure that even want this water now because of the price that is to be paid to go there.

Has Revival broken in the Pacific Northwest?

Interesting question too.

Well, what does revival look like and what are we gauging it all by?

We would not have traveled so far and gone through so many rough waters for a pipe dream.  This is real, folks.  You have believed and have contended for it.  It’s just about time.  What is getting ready to happen will make everything worth it. You have labored out of love and by your very life have prepared the way for Jesus to come into your heart, your region and town. You are anxious to see what He is going to do when He really begins to manifest His presence in the city streets and in the churches.

He’s coming to your city and He’s coming to mine.

That old song, “It will be worth it all, when we see Jesus,” is just about to come alive once again .

Some of you have gone through some sorrows.  Some have faced trials that you thought were about to destroy you.  Some of you have lost friends, family, parishioners, and have watched many just walk off.  But you have remained faithful to the purposes for which you have been called.

*You may be a pastor who has watched your church membership and finances dwindle and had others tell you to make adjustments to draw some back.

*You may be an evangelist with a message burning in your heart, but have had door after door of churches shut in you face, even within your own fellowship, when people find out your passion for revival, God’s way.

*You may be an intercessor who has faced ridicule, persecution and rejection and been gossiped about as being that, “super-spiritual one,” even having long-time friends shy away from you.

*You may be one who has faithfully interceded for and attended the House of God and felt the hunger stirring in your own heart, but seen little, if any, move of God in your home church.  You now wonder what you are to do…

*You may be a ministry leader who is now feeling the financial crunch because of your decision to follow hard after God.  You have been praying for a long time for financial breakthrough and even found yourself watching T.V. ministries to find the keys to success.  You may still be waiting and wondering what you have done wrong that is holding back the open heavens in this area of your life.

*You may have just been recently displaced from ministry because of what you believe about the move of God. You really are not sure where you fit into anything now.

*You may have been contending for revival and it’s now 4-5 years down the road.  You are still praying, but not yet seeing the fruit of your labor.

*You may have had a sickness or disease for some time now and have been praying for healing but still have not been healed.

*You may be a youth pastor that is reaching out for the youth of your city and still being faced with the apathy and walls that still seem to stand against you there.

*You may be one who has witnessed all over your city and still have yet to see a break into the harvest.

Well, all of you have one thing in common!

You believe for the promises to be fulfilled.

You still believe God and that His Word is yes and amen.

Your eyes have had a glimpse of glory and nothing is going to hold you back from reaching for more of God.

You know that you are closer to Him today that you were before.

You realize that there is nothing back there that is worth going back for.

You are determined to keep going and see what God is going to do, because you just know that He is up to something.

You have tasted and seen that the Lord is good and know that He is the sweetest that you have ever tasted.

You have worshipped extravagantly but know that you want to go deeper yet.

You have climbed God’s Holy Mountain and know that the top is in sight.

So are you ready for Breakthrough?  It is the other side of whatever is holding you back from the promises being fulfilled in your life, ministry, town and church.  Ladies and Gentlemen of the Revival, it is time to crash through some walls, or better yet,

It’s time to let Jesus crash through some walls.
