What is “Going Up to High Places?”

This is a question that we are asked all the time. “What is High Places and why that name?”

This question is answered in seven parts:

1.  During High Places the emphasis is extremely strong on Praise and Worship.

This is a place of position, where you know that you have truly found the secret place under the Lord’s wings, a place where the warfare that we war is effective.  It is a place of great confidence and no fear but of great faith to know that we are being led forth by the Mighty Warrior Himself, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  We may be shouting for the majesty of Jesus and aiming a mighty sword of justice at the heart of the enemy all at the same time.  We may be binding with chains and fetters the kings and overlords of darkness while proclaiming the Word, the Blood, and the Resurrection as a testimony of enforcement over all powers of darkness, but simply be singing, “There is power in the blood of the Lamb.”

2.  This position puts a believer in a key place for Intercession, which is the next component of High Places.

The intercession is with great intensity, agreement and focus during these gatherings.  This is not just a teaching about intercession, but hands on intercession, led by those who implement or facilitate the intercession from a position of understanding.  It is intercession but also a workshop on intercession.  The difference is like the difference between reading about an archeological dig and going on one and actually digging for the buried treasures.  With this intercession you actually get to put your spiritual hands into the dirt, spiritual darkness, and dig for the treasures, the souls.  You may get dirty but you will get the prize of the high calling.  You may be tired but you will feel refreshed and encouraged to know that you have put in a good days work in the field, not just stuck in some classroom with a lecturing teacher up front.

The field trips are great at High Places.  God, by His Holy Spirit, moves us all over the world and nation to stand upon ground that we have never seen before.  He places in our spiritual hands the tools of intercession and leads us by His Spirit to the exact spot where much lays buried beneath the rubble of societies.  We travel city streets and country sides into places where no man has ever gone with Truth.  We carry care packages with us in the Spirit, dropping fresh water and bread into the thirsty and hungry hearts.

We see with spiritual eyes

*Into the despair and pain of the lost

*Into the complicated structure of cities built on wrong foundations

*Into the churches that are trapped by religious tradition where the blinders of the enemy are as effective on those souls as they are on those outside the church doors

*Into governmental powers where the nations, states and cities are ruled

*Into Israel and the Arabic worlds where many do not know the Messiah

*Into the schools of our nation where young lives are being shaped

*Into the secret places of sin, abuse, bondage and perversion

*Into those who are trapped in the dark world of the occult and cults

We are led through this type of intercession by the Sovereign will of the Father’s great heart for humanity.  The thrill of knowing that our hearts are linked with His and making a difference is an incredible journey.

3.  There is a third component of High Places that is essential:  It is The Written and Rhema Word of God spoken as a sword of truth.

This is the sword that is for our own death.

It is thrust time and again into our flesh and separates it from our spirit.  It is at times painful to realize that we Christians have not arrived, but are still on the journey of really knowing who Jesus is and submitting to His Lordship.

The preaching and teaching is without compromise or apology.  It is anointed by the Holy Spirit to do its work in the lives of those that call themselves the “Church.”

4.Then the fourth component of High Places is An Altar of Meeting.  This is the time where we pour out our lives as a living sacrifice, but also in the process, we too like Abraham, look and see that the sacrificial lamb is caught in the thicket, just for us.  We receive so much during the altar times as God, by the Holy Spirit pours deep into our lives.

5. High Places is also A Networking Ministry, which is now reaching a number of cities and towns, coming into a prayer covenant with over 70 ministries. It is a ministry of encouragement and prayer for many weary people who just need a spiritual tune-up, training or refreshing.  It is a ministry of helps to small groups that need a one on one touch.

We have met two times a year with a growing company of hungry hearts who are tired of the compromise and baby food.  High Places began in January of 1998 with a group of weary intercessors who came to us from the valley for a refreshing.  The question was asked, “When do we do this again?”  From there the clarion call of the Holy Spirit began to call across the Pacific Northwest.  With each gathering, new ones have come into this company of intercessors, pastors, missionaries, and evangelists.  The foundation has been built carefully, making Jesus the Cornerstone of this, His work.

We do not over-emphasize any special speakers, but do have those who share powerfully.  This ministry is not built upon personalities, but upon the moving of the Spirit of God.  We do have a schedule, but understand that we are not in control should the Father make a change.

6. Another key component to what God is doing through High Places is Unity, another facet of this encounter. It is beautiful to see soldiers of the cross meet and become friends in the battle for our states and cities.  This gathering has brought people together from several states and Canada.  It is not really about how many, but the strength of those who do gather.  We are not trying to compete with anything, but to add strength to what God is already doing through so many strategic ministries.  We feel that we are a part of the whole and offer that which God has called us to do.  Many are finding High Places to be a wonderful well of refreshing and strength.

7.  This brings us to the last part, which involves all of the above.  It is Warfare.  We realize that we are at war and are called to do the battle over the souls, churches, and individuals.   When one goes up to “High Places” it is with a two-edged sword in hand, where we enter into that place that God calls us to, “be seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and wicked spirits in high places.  We have found that an encounter with truth is the greatest warfare that the church can do in this day of great deception.

This is a convocation that has no registration fee and is based on free-will offerings.  It is a place where those who may not be able to afford all the costs of a convention can come and just receive.  It is our desire to make this as easy on those who come as is possible.

The ministry has been built more by word of mouth than anything and we do encourage those who read this to come and bring others with you.  You will not be disappointed.  You will go home full.  You will be blessed.
